OK, so the Times managed to mangle the spelling of my name, and to misquote me! For the avoidance of doubt, I don’t expect United Utilities to buy buoyancy aids for anyone. But if they are serious about preventing drownings, they could fund a safety campaign about the importance of wearing a buoyancy aid. But it was still a huge honour to be asked to contribute to a subject that is very dear to me — open access to our waters.
