Belgium

Somewhere in Belgium.

I was driving from France to Germany one Friday in June 2019, passing through Netherlands and Belgium. Suddenly, I was struck by a thought. ‘I’ve never been paddleboarding in Belgium!’.

Spotting some water on the map of my in-car satnav and, having an hour or so to spare, I exited the motorway and found a tiny lake, next to a small café.

Two leisurely laps took me barely 45 minutes for a total distance of 3.17 km. A short paddle, but who cares. The sun was shining, hardly a breeze, and I was able to add Belgium to my list of countries paddled.
